Our history…where’s the strategy?!

Meles PR started semi-reactively, in response to an apparent need for thoughtful communications in the South African wine industry. Annual drops in consumption of wine spoke volumes about the need for insightful PR strategy that starts with the consumer; their reasons for engaging and their habits, wants and needs.

Retaining our main focus on wine (the industry, that is), our clients now span a broader cross section of the lifestyle industry.

Why us?

Because we know it’s about the PEOPLE – say it after me!

Engaging a PR consultancy is a big investment in time and energy. We partner with the people that are behind our client brands; taking an interest in the smallest details and sharing a passion to see them succeed. Our choice of clients is based on a number of things: but first amongst these is a sense of synergy.

Because we think it out first

Clever communications are the ones that work in persuading target audiences. Reaching people effectively means taking a step back, looking at the spaces that they occupy and the thoughts that occupy them – and how these translate to interest in a brand.

Strategic tactics are only that when they reach the audience with clear and thoughtful messages that speak to wants and needs, reaching the people where they are, in the way that they prefer: and, where possible, encouraging dialogue.

Because bigger is not more beautiful!

As a small team we guarantee that you are top of mind. The team member who met with you and won your confidence is the same person who’ll work with you, and on your brand. Coupled with that, it’s always a case of all hands on deck: the best person for the job will make the pitch to the journalist, pursue a lead or make a tough call, or simply keep track of the calendar and plan.

Because we can!

A good talker or sharp dresser a good consultant doth not make – not of itself anyway! Our unique mix of training and skills gives us – and you – the edge, in making the best decisions, and rolling them out effectively.

Our list of credentials includes a post-graduate qualification in public relations; a degree in behavioural science with communications, a degree in journalism and a wealth of experience attained internationally.

Our broad and active experience in promoting South African wine has seen us accrue a depth of market knowledge and insight, both locally and overseas, superb contacts with media, industry and trade, and a generic understand of public relations for brands that extends the gamut of the lifestyle industry.
